Linecross is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of polymer and polyurethane composite products. They provide services to a range of markets from their commercial units in Rutland and Cannock. These properties are home to a series of sophisticated machinery used for product manufacture.
The team at Steve Rudkin Electrical Contractors have a longstanding relationship with Linecross and provide electrical services to the team at their Rutland & Cannock factories. The building’s electrical infrastructure is integral to the operational success of the business. It is reliant on having a safe and reliable supply of electrics to run its energy intensive manufacturing machinery and back office.
Steve Rudkin supply five-year periodic inspection and testing to ensure the system is in good working order and that it is safe for employees to use. These inspections show if any circuits or equipment are overloaded, detect potential shock risks and fire hazards, and identify a lack of earthling or bonding. Once the inspections are complete the Steve Rudkin team complete any required fixes and issue the necessary certification in accordance with British Standard requirements.
To help provide best in class safety and reliability, the team now also provide regular infrared thermography testing on electrical installations. A special mechanism is used to identify unbalanced loads, poor connections, deteriorated insulation or any other issues in electrical panels or components. This removes the need to take the component apart and picks up issues that can’t be seen by the naked eye.
The team also provide the client with power supply and lighting advice, design and installation upgrades which help to reduce overheads and lower carbon usage. New LED lighting reduces running costs by up to 60% and extends the life of the lamp. They also allow for more flexibility regarding lighting design and have improved the lighting levels for employees on the factory floor. Upgrades to power supplies have allowed the system to run more efficiently and accommodate the increase in usage as Linecross continue to grow their portfolio of machines.
Our engineers work with Linecross maintenance staff to install new manufacturing equipment. The team work quickly and efficiently to minimise disruption to the production line. Each installation is assessed to meet the unique requirements of the machine and close collaboration with the client allows any problems to be solved quickly.
David Austin, Linecross chairman and financial director, commented: ” With heavy energy intensive processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment it was critical to Linecross to ensure we partnered with a business which could advise and help ensure safe and reliable electrical installations across our factories. Steve Rudkin Electrical Contractors have proved to be a consistently reliable, responsive, and technically component partner to Linecross.”
